Han Market

Hotel Da Nang near My Khe beach said located in the centre of Da Nang, the Han Market is one of the city’s major traditional markets and among its most-visited attractions for both domestic and foreign visitors.

The Han Market was first established in 1940, spontaneously by a group of traders, but rebuilding started on 19 May 1990 to mark the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday.

Hotel Da Nang near Pham Van Dong beach said It took 1 year to complete the construction of the new market, which is on 2 floors and has a total area of 28,000m2.  The market was inaugurated on 29 March 1991 to mark the 16th anniversary of the city’s liberation.  It is now home to 576 stalls and 36 kiosks, and various types of goods are sold including footwear, cloth, clothes, bags and souvenirs.

In addition, the market is well-known for its live and fresh seafood, as well as its fresh fruits and vegetables , and local specialities.  It is the best place to buy the famous local “Mam” (salted fish) products which include Mam Tom Chua (sour shrimp paste), Mam Ca Com (anchovy paste), Mam Ca Thu (codfish paste), and Mam Ruoc (fermented shrimp paste).

The market not only boasts advantages of an inner-city location and a trading culture, but it also showcases local cultural characteristics.  It is emerging as a “must see” attraction for international cruise ship passengers and tourists from western countries whilst they are visiting our beautiful seaside city!
